At minimum what Oklahoma requires: 36 inches of ice barrier in every valley, full length and centered, and 36 inches at any pitch transition where the lower roof is shallower than the upper. We will usually recommend more than the minimum at eaves and around penetrations, and we will tell you plainly which parts are code and which parts are our recommendation.
In Oklahoma you can actually check. State registration is required, the OK-prefixed number must appear in two-inch contrasting letters on both sides of every work vehicle, it must be posted on the job site, and it must be submitted with any permit application. Registration suspends the day the contractor's insurance cancels, and it cannot be shared between companies. If someone cannot show you a number, walk away.
We confirm with the Tulsa Building Permit Center at 918-596-9456 rather than telling you something general — the city's published permit categories are not explicit about standalone re-roofing, and we would rather make the call than get it wrong on your property. Where a permit is required, the registration number goes on it by law.
