Commercial Skylight Types We Install

The most common commercial skylight systems we work with are domed skylights and curb-mounted units. Domed skylights — typically acrylic or polycarbonate — are widely used on low-slope and flat commercial roofs. They provide excellent light transmission and are available in single, double, and triple-wall configurations for varying insulation requirements.

Curb-mounted skylights sit on a raised framed curb that elevates the skylight above the roof surface, providing enhanced drainage and waterproofing performance on flat roofs.

We also install ridge skylights, sawtooth skylights for manufacturing facilities, and smoke vent skylights that serve dual purposes as both daylighting and emergency smoke exhaust systems.

Commercial Skylight Repair and Replacement

Common commercial skylight issues we repair include cracked or yellowed acrylic and polycarbonate domes, failed curb flashing allowing water infiltration, condensation between double-wall units indicating seal failure, frame deterioration on older aluminum units, and broken or non-functional venting mechanisms on operable skylights.

Many commercial skylights can be reglazed — the dome or glazing unit replaced while retaining the existing curb and frame — at significantly lower cost than full unit replacement. Integrating Skylights with Your Commercial Roofing System

On commercial buildings, skylights must be properly integrated with the membrane roofing system — whether TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, or metal — to maintain waterproofing integrity and warranty compliance. Improperly flashed skylights are one of the most common sources of commercial roof leaks and can void membrane warranties if the work doesn’t meet manufacturer requirements.
